Running Well® at LoHi Physical Therapy

About Running Well®

  1. Running Well® involves the whole body. Our training focuses on getting all segments of your body working together synergistically for efficient running. This program teaches you dynamic alignment of your hips, trunk and shoulders so your muscles are in position to do their job. What does this mean for you? Coordinated, efficient movement striving to optimize your energy with every step of your runing. When even one segment is out of alignment, another segment will shift out of alignment resulting in compromised efficiency and an increased risk of muscle strain or joint pain.  
  2. The Running Well® program is about helping you reach your optimal performance.  You'll receive individual attention from experts with over 25 years of experience.  Karen and Peter started the Running Well® program in 2003.  It was developed based on research and their combined knowledge backgrounds in neurological rehabilitation, development, orthopedics, study of movement and treatment of movement patterns within the field of physical and occupational therapy. Aside from their professional side, both have extensive experience in running including ultras and the marathon distances.  They know what it takes to help you reach your running goals safely and effectively!
  3. Running Well® includes drills (click to see example) designed to train specific movement patterns to  replace current inefficient movements.  When you train efficient motion, you will better be able to build strength, speed variation, distance variation and power conditioning.  
  4.  From core drills to trunk training and plyometrics, you will complete the program with all the training you need to reach your goals. We will track your progress every step of the way, providing you with the tools and individual attention you deserve.
  5. With Running Well®  we teach you how to incorporate  5 key components of running that are essential for proper form and injury prevention.  We do this with individual attention; written information; verbal & kinesthetic cues; visual feedback with videotaping (see before/after examples).

 This session offers the same as the one on one session but with small group discount; it is a perfect option for you and 1 to 3 of your running buddies!


Running Well® session at a park or at the clinic depending on your group and weather. 

Time: 5:30-7:00pm

Duration: 1.5 Hours

Session 2: Progression of movement retraining built on your progress from Session 1.


Session 3: We repeat your video analysis to see and track your changes and provide you with additional ways to address your issues as you move forward in your transition to better running efficiency.  We strive to send you on your way with tools you can use.

  • Your before and after videos.
  • Drills and exercises designed for you and your specific needs.
  • Highly trained therapists and flexible individual scheduling to meet your needs.


Cost of Single Individual Running Well Session : $85.00


Cost of  3 prepaid individual sessions : $229.50 , 10% discount applied!!

6 Session Program

Session 1: Includes video analysis, education regarding efficient running mechanics and beginning core drills.


Session 2:  Progression of movement retraining built on your progress from Session 1.


Session 3:  Second video to see and track your changes.


Session 4: Expands your form training to include your trunk and upper body.


Session 5: You’ll be ready for plyometrics and increased strengthening.


Session 6: We put it all together and repeat video analysis.

  • Highly trained therapists and  flexible individual scheduling to meet your needs.


Cost of 6 prepaid individual sessions: $433.50 , 15% Discount applied!!

five key components of running:

  • Minimize the work load on the quadriceps, hamstrings and lower leg muscles by using the powerful deep hip flexors.
  • Activate strong core muscles and restore efficient counter-rotation in your running.
  • Prevent over striding and bouncing in and out  of "aligned to mal-aligned directions”.  Gain a run pattern that involves fluid motion with all parts moving forward!
  • Run efficiently and effectively coordinating the upper and lower body, utilizing elastic recoil, efficient landing to push off, effective shoulder/arm utilization.
  • Run with fluid alignment foot / ankle to shoulders to head.
